Dear Friends: As many of you know, we did not receive any backing from any of the major studios to help offset the more than $15,000 cost associated with the Hollywood Walk of Fame Star. It has been amazing, however, how my father's fans came to the rescue and helped raise the entire amount. This story has left many in Hollywood still scratching their heads in disbelief. What originally began as a fan-initiated effort in 1997 seeking my father's induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame has now been realized through the generous support of my dad's fans, and my family is deeply touched and eternally grateful. Each donor has their name posted on the HALL OF HONORS. We established an account under the name GUY WILLIAMS HWOF (NOTE: This is not a non-profit, tax-deductible fund-raiser) for the collection of donations. The total amount was raised by the beginning of November of 2000 making many people (and some studios) take note. Additionally, the event was a resounding success, enjoyed by many fans, celebrities, and by my family. It was a fitting and memorable tribute to my Dad, who is now memorialized forever in the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7080 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California. Thanks to my Dad's fans who started this project and who ultimately saw it through. Special thanks to our "Z-Committee" (Kathy Gregory, Kathy Nance, Mary Spooner, Antoinette Lane, and Wendell Vega), who spent the last three years helping my family direct this project. Also a special mention to Taffy Shanks and Paulette Hopkins. Part of the fundraising effort was through the sales of a special Guy Williams Hollywood Walk of Fame Commemorative Wine. By popular demand, a second run of Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Lapel Pins has been produced and a limited number are NOW AVAILABLE. Those interested in ordering, please CLICK HERE. My family and I greatly appreciate the support you, my father's fans and friends have shown over the years by first initiating this great honor, and by your support that saw it through to a place in reality and history. The star is located at 7080 Hollywood Boulevard (south side just east of La Brea Avenue) in Hollywood, California. With all of our love and respect, Guy Williams, Jr. and the Williams/Catalano Family |
