Previews While Under Construction

People have asked for candids and "behind the scenes" photos with some descriptions of what it was like from my perspective. The following photos are some of those being assembled for the site, and are in no special order. They are being posted temporarily while this section is under development to try and accommodate the interests that have been expressed. Ultimately the entire tribute section will be organized in a matrix rather than linear format. Your patience is appreciated.

An early modeling job with Grace Kelly in New York.
(Thanks to Russ & Mary Spooner for the digital touchup)

Dennis Weaver's backyard (pre Zorro).
He and dad taught me and the Weaver kids (Rob and Rick) to ride two-wheelers there.

Weaver's backyard (Zorro era).

You'd be surprised how many people ask.
Yes I did! - chalk-tipped sword and all.

But wearing the real thing was much more fun (no chalk, though).

Don Diamond (Corporal Reyes in Zorro) on the Oceana.
He liked playing the harmonica and I tried to sing along.
Several of the cast, Don, Gene Sheldon (Bernardo),
and Henry Calvin (Sgt. Garcia) were all close family friends.
In fact in those days, Disney studios was like a big family with Uncle Walt at the head.
Lunchtime at the studio was fun because everyone would eat at the commissary
in costume including the original Mousekateers.
When there was a party at Walt's house, he would rather take the kids for a ride
around the grounds on his miniature train than hobnob with the adults.
Disney is a different place now. Gone are the "good old days" there.

Dad and Henry Calvin (Sergeant Garcia) on the back patio.

Dad fencing with Buddy Van Horn (his stunt man in Zorro).
Though dad did a lot of his own stunts, Buddy did the really wild stuff like
jumping from the roof onto the horse.
The front lawn was a favorite place for fencing and practicing with the whip.
Dad taught me to fence here. Buddy went on to make a career
directing Clint Eastwood movies which he still does from time to time.

Piazza Navona, in Rome Italy during the shooting of Damon and Pythias.

A castle in Naples, Italy (Damon and Pythias).

Nice (pronounced Neece), France (Pythias ).

Me with Damon and Pythias (early 1980's). Don Burnett who played Pythias, remains a part of our family.
He presented the eulogy at my dad's memorial service in 1989.

Damon and Pythias at dinner in the late 80's, just a few years before my dad's death.

Dad and a much thinner Henry Calvin on tour in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Henry passed away not long after that.

The Study - one of dad's favorite places to study his scripts.

His dressing room on the Lost In Space set at Fox.

Watching TV with our dog Sam. You can tell Sam was adopted - he doesn't sit like the rest of the family.

Riding bikes was a favorite family activity.

Relaxing in Malibu.

My nephew Armand, January '97 - Dad would have been proud.
